Predictive Commutation Failure Suppression Strategy for High Voltage Direct Current System Considering Harmonic Components of Commutation Voltage

The commutation failure of high voltage direct current (HVDC) systems could lead to unstable operation the alternating current/direct (AC/DC) hybrid power grid. distortion caused by harmonics is a considerable but unclear factor failure. According control switching process HVDC systems, voltage-time area method employed analyze and reveal influence mechanism harmonic components on first subsequent failures. Considering characteristics AC voltage, predictive suppression strategy considering multiple proposed. In this strategy, new extinction angle zero-crossing offset after are calculated so as obtain compensation margin lag trigger combining correction with change rate. Moreover, tuning parameters prediction variables provided. Finally, case study based CIGRE standard system performed analyzed using computer-aided design (PSCAD) software. Compared International Council Large Electric (CIGRE) test model traditional prevention (CFPREV) model, results verify that proposed can effectively reduce risk failures improve sensitivity CFPREV control.
